The analogy here is driving a race car. As you’re going around a track at 200mph, do not focus on the wall. Focus on the road, your car, your position on the track, and what you’re about to do next.
Horowitz says this is easily one of the most important lessons for a CEO or a leader. There are many things that you and your company could get wrong, but the vital skill is to identify what you must get right. Focus on that.
This is as much an intellectual challenge as it is an emotional one.
