Discipline 5 – Organizational Alignment
At 11 pages, this section is pretty damn short. I’m not sure if the author’s ran out of time or what, but apparently Organizational Alignment is a pretty simple subject (is it?!).
The major themes in this Discipline are as follows:
- First, the authors summarize the first four disciplines
- First, focus on important customer needs
- Second, use Needs Approach Benefits and Competitors to frame your value propositions
- Third, have innovation champions to lead projects
- Fourth, deal with the team dynamics that inherently arise during projects
- And now Fifth, make sure you have organizational alignment
- Remove barriers
- Focus on results
- Eliminate waste
- Mistakes are OK
- Show your progress
I’ll spend just a few posts to cover these, because each is really just a few chapters in the book. It might just be faster to get the book and read this section than read my posts…
